Meet Tara Mallon, Educational Supervisor Grades K-4
Tara Mallon is a proud member of the original team of teachers at Aaron School when it first opened its doors in 2003. She taught in the lower elementary program until 2006, when she transitioned to public school as the special education teacher in an inclusion classroom. While this was a truly rewarding experience, Aaron School invited her back in 2010 as the supervisor of the lower school and she eagerly returned!
As educational supervisor, Tara supports teachers in curriculum development, instruction, and classroom management and provides individual support to students and their families. In addition, Tara is one of the Thinking Maps trainers for the 45th Street campus and oversees the effective implementation of our reading program. She provides ongoing staff professional development and conducts several parent workshops through the year. Tara loves working with teachers, but finds her true inspiration in the students that work so hard each day. She is dedicated to celebrating each student’s individual strengths and providing strategies for academic and social success.
Tara graduated from American University and completed a Master’s in Early Childhood Special Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She also received an Advanced Certificate in Supervision and Administration from Hunter College. She is certified to teach special education ages 0-21 and holds a license in School and District Leadership. Tara lives in New York City with her husband. She enjoys cooking, yoga, and hosting friends in her tiny Manhattan apartment, and is a self-proclaimed cat lady.
